Web developers build web-based applications, based on design criteria provided by web designers and operational requirements provided by business analysts (working with the project stakeholders.) Web developers may be responsible for advanced architectural decisions, such as load balancing, content management systems, or security, working in partnership with other specialists like systems administrators.

We are looking for an enthusiastic IT professional to develop web apps for all aspects of Bible translation and language development. If you have a solid background in web development, have troubleshooting, analysis and technical skills, and enjoy keeping up with new technology, then you could be the one to join our team! We design and build applications used by people to accomplish Bible translation and improve literacy worldwide.

Position Responsibilities:
Assist in project planning and development of functional specifications in collaboration with project managers, site designers, systems architects, and expert customer representatives.
Build web-based applications using various programming and scripting languages.
Create site layout/user interface from provided design specifications.
When applicable, build analytics into relevant websites to measure and report on usage metrics.
Manage website performance tuning to ensure high performing and efficient web solutions, working in partnership with system administrators, to meet load requirements and in some cases response time targets in limited bandwidth environments.
Work alongside network, database, and system administrators, and security specialists to ensure a robust, secure, and maintainable technical platform.
Conceptualize long-term needs of web environment, and plan and manage related projects.
Keep abreast of developing industry standards and new technologies, and evaluates their usefulness within our organization.
May provide practical input on web-technology-related standards for the organization.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
KSA Competency:
A solid understanding of web application development processes and standards, from the layout/user interface to relational database structures.
Proven track record in cross platform, cross browser development and an understanding of the challenges presented.
Education and Experience:
Associate or undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience in relevant web development role.
Training and Orientation:
In environments where a mentor can be assigned, candidates with less experience will be considered if they demonstrate a good aptitude for learning.
